Join the walk!
Over ten days of ~10 mile walks, the September 2022 Walk Around Philadelphia will send small groups to explore the city's perimeter on foot, followed by a special in-person celebration on Saturday October 1. You are invited to join for a half day, whole day, or multiple segments.
PLEASE REGISTER INDIVDUALLY for EACH segment that you plan to attend.
More info: Walk Guidelines & Frequently Asked Questions
Register for this segment:
You're signing up to walk on Friday, September 23rd at 8:10am, clockwise from Bridesburg towards Pier 68.*
Each segment is estimated to take roughly 10-12 miles and 5-6hrs. Your mileage may vary depending on choices made by your group, and there will be options to depart / get picked up along the way if necessary. Using public transportation to access departure and end locations is highly recommended.
Once registered, you will receive some additional resources including a packing list, segment maps, and list of optional exit points if you don't think you'll walk the full distance with the group.
*NOTE: We plan for each start time to have groups heading both clockwise & counterclockwise. In the event of insufficient registration, the groups may combine and your direction and end-point may change. Please keep an eye out for emails the night before for any last minute updates / changes.
Registration fees & contributions:
Tickets are sliding scale: walk registration fees help cover administrative and logistical costs associated with facilitating the walk. Additional contributions are most welcome; they assist in the continued development of the project and efforts to make it more accessible to others.
Free registrations & stipends:
If you'd like to join the walk and finances are a barrier, please reach out to walk@jjtiziou.net. We can acommodate some free registrations and have a limited number of stipends available to help cover costs such as transportation, supplies, childcare or time off from work.
Background:
Since its 4-person artist residency origins in 2016, Walk Around Philadelphia has become a pilgrimage experience where hundreds (ranging in age from 12 to 94) have set out to explore the city's perimeter.
