<div>I just got back from my first segment, counter-clockwise starting in the far NE at Pennypack Rd and State Rd, along State Rd to Grant, thru Poquessing Creek Park, thru a bunch of really boring neighborhoods, and up around the back of Franklin Mills Mall.  I saw  the WAP stickers all over the place, and they were SOOOO reassuring!  I ended at Bethel Church, north of the Mall, which is where I will start next time.  Close to or slightly over 6 miles, my feet are sore, but for a 76 year old woman, not bad.  I then took a LYFT back to where I parked my car on State Rd.  The next segment of 5+ miles will start where I ended today.  Going later in the week, I hope.</div>

<div>This is one of the coolest things I have done since moving to Philly about 4.5 years ago.  I’ve always been a map fanatic, and this feeds right into it!  I downloaded the OpenPhilly Map on the City website, and it is extremely helpful, as it has the actual county borders, which almost nothing else has.  I stick as close as possible to those borders without either trespassing or going somewhere more than a bit sketchy.  And lo and behold, there is a WAP sticker greeting me!  They are very, very helpful.</div>

<div>I am an experienced urban solo walker, having come from Milwaukee where I walked the downtown and southeast side countless times, exploring off-street, on active railroad tracks (where I was kicked off twice, playing dumb both times), through a variety of cultural and economic neighborhoods, met countless folks with whom I stopped to chat, etc.  Every week day I walked about 4-5 miles in all weather except heat, including snow and way-below zero.  Philly seems tame in comparison (except in the summer…)</div>

<div>I am thrilled that WAP exists and hope to be able to report to you next spring that I am a circumnavigator.</div>
<div>What a great way to learn my way around Philly, in all of its extremities.  My goal is to do the entire walk before mid-April, when it gets too hot for me. Thanks for your interest.</div>
