There’s a super great lineup for the next house concert on March 30th…

Black Sea Hotel will be joining us from Brooklyn – this amazing Balkan folksong ensemble last graced our living room ten years ago, and it’s a real honor to have them back.

Since that amazing show that BSH shared with us way back in 2009, Shelley Thomas has joined the ensemble, and we got a preview of her stunning voice when she sat in with Asaran Earth Trio for another house concert this past fall.

Another returning star is Eli Conley, who’s coming back to us from San Francisco five years after having played a fabulous set for us.

(If anyone remembers a particularly fantastic moment of a pop-song cover in the dark with audience lighting effects from goofy promotional flashlight pens that my father had made for me, we may have a reprise moment of that as he left behind a pile more pens when his life came to a close… along with a whole pile of Space Junk.)

Joining us from Philly is Dani Gershkoff’s new project Likebirds, featuring vocals, flute, drums, guitar & bass in some sort of pop, jazz, folk and neosoul hybrid.

(You might know Dani from her work with the amazing Hardwork Movement. I’m super excited about this new ensemble…)

David Wax Museum plays “Guest House” at my West Philly House Concert

The last show was also pretty amazing, with another special returning guest: The now Charlottesville-based David Wax Museum came back to play two special sets for us a decade after they played their first Philly show in our living room.

David Wax Museum plays a special morning set of music for a hospitalized neighbor.

The gift of their music was all the more precious the following morning where they took a bit of time out of their busy tour schedule to head over to Hahnemann University Hospital to play a special private mini-concert for an elder neighbor of ours who’d fallen and broken his hip during his move as part of the recent evictions at the Arvilla building on my block.

I’m so grateful for their generosity and I’m psyched to be a backer for their upcoming new album Line of Light.

Ok that’s about it for now – did you remember to RSVP for the March 30th house show?

Once you’re done with that, please check out my next special project and share it with the space geeks in your orbit:
