Event Status:
Put your feet on your friends:
Bring someone who is special to you & join JJ Tiziou, LMT for a partner massage workshop at The Cedar Works where you'll learn easy ways to apply therapeutic pressure with your feet (and knees, shins, forearms & elbows!) to offer sustainable care to your loved ones.
This 2hr small group workshop will offer plenty of time for individualized attention and hands-on (or rather… feet-on) practice.
WHAT WE'LL COVER:
- Various weight-based partner-massage techniques that deliver more impact with less effort
- Ergonomic and alignment adjustments to find techniques that work best for you
- Injury prevention (for both you and your partner)
- Nuances of care and consent
WHAT YOU'LL GET:
Techniques that will last you a lifetime that you can share with friends, family, and anyone in need of care.
WHO TO BRING:
Bring your own partner; registration is for two participants. Bring anyone that you feel comfortable sharing therapeutic touch with. That can be a domestic partner, family member, friend or anyone you'd care to share this experience with.
WHAT TO WEAR / BRING:
Please bring a clean pair of socks and wear comfortable clothes that you can move around in (tights, athleticwear, sweats, scrubs, etc) without lots of pokey bits (buckles, buttons etc). A water bottle is a good idea too!
ACCESSIBILITY:
Physical accessibility:
The Cedar Works is a ground-floor ADA accessible space. This workshop assumes about as much mobility as the average yoga class – we'll be spending much of the time on the floor, and many of the techniques assume the ability to climb onto a table or sit down on the floor; please get in touch if you have any accessibility concerns.
Financial accessibility:
When registering, please choose the highest rate that feels accessible to you to help me continue to be able to make my work accessible to others. If finances are a barrier, please get in touch; one discounted / scholarship registration is available.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
JJ Tiziou is a Licensed Massage Therapist (Lic. # MSG013959) practicing in West Philadelphia.
