Autumn house concerts…

It’s time for another series of musical gatherings at our place in W. Philly… While the summer’s generally too hot to pack people into the living room, the cooler autumn is the perfect time to fire up some hot cider, mull some wine, and share in an evening of culture and community.

First houseconcert of the season is on Sat, Sept 26. The city might be a little bit crazy due to the Pope’s visit, but if you can make it to us, then you’d be most welcome to take refuge with us on Osage. Second one is Friday Oct 23rd. There might be another one in Nov/Dec, but it’s not scheduled yet. Subscribe to the houseconcert email list for a heads up when it gets confirmed!

The Image of Yoga – an invitation

What does a yogi look like?

UPDATE:

This event has already happened, but if you’d like to participate in the future and/or hear about what’s next, please get on the mailing list. For info on the 2016 version of the project, visit TheImageOfYoga.com

You’re invited:

Please join us for a community discussion on yoga, diversity, body image, public art, media & commerce, followed by an optional community photo session.

Your insights will help shape a new yoga-focused photographic series based on my How Philly Moves project.

After the conversation, you’re welcome to stick around and be photographed in whatever basic seated pose is comfortable and accessible to you. (on the floor, in a chair, on blocks/blankets or in a wheelchair, anything goes.)

This free event will be hosted at Drexel University’s Mandell Theater at 10am on Saturday July 18th.

Details & RSVP

Please use the RSVP link if you’re able to join, and help us share the invitation with anyone that you think would be interested in joining the conversation and/or participating in the project.

You can also download a high res jpeg or pdf of the flyer to share with friends, share the invite via a Facebook event, and follow updates via Twitter.

You can also find some more background on the project in this post.

Calling all Yogis!

Studio 34

I took this picture at Studio34 back in 2013 for their yoga teacher training manual.

In the next couple weeks, I’m putting together a community yoga photo event.  It will be similar to my How Philly Moves sessions, but rather than featuring dance, we’ll be doing yoga postures. (Please help me spread the word! Interested? Signup form is here.

UPDATE: The first event has passed, but please sign up for occasional updates if you’d like to hear what’s next, and visit TheImageOfYoga.com for info on the next incarnations of this project. )

The Million-Picture Giveaway…

FullSizeRender-5

My image archive, now available for free high res downloads…

This box has over a million images in it…
… and I’m giving them away.

I recently hosted a special shindig, one of whose purposes was to make an announcement:

For the next year, I’m making my archive available for unlimited free high res downloads.

If you’re reading this, you probably know at least one person that I’ve photographed. A lot of communities that I’ve documented over the last decade might benefit from this offer; I’m going to need your help to get the details of the million-picture-givaway out to all of them.

Read on below for more about the event, along with the how and why of the million-picture-giveaway… (more…)

I’m now using Artful.ly as my ticket/RSVP platform, so you can RSVP directly and see  future event listings at:

https://www.artful.ly/jjtiziou/

You can also get a bit more info about the series, find Facebook invites, FAQ for performers or sign up for a houseconcert-specific email list at: jjtiziou.net/houseconcert.

You’d of course be most welcome. And a guest. But within reason!
(Apparently there’s some fellow who makes a habit of inviting his network of hundreds to parties in flashmob-style, and they recently trashed a friend’s house, breaking windows and pillaging cupboards… that’s simply not cool.)
