The Philadelphia Live Arts Festival
and Philly Fringe

The Festivals are over for this year; Check out the festival website for details, or information on getting involved for next year.

I ran around and took a ton of photos at this year's festival. Now they're all online here. Look for links below to four galleries of photos, plus a quicktime movie of the whole take as well as unedited galleries of it all...

The festivals are over until next year- hope you had fun!

ALL THE PHOTOS (unedited) are online here:

The Festival Movie is now on the Google Video Player:

click here for the video on google.

(this Quicktime movie runs at 12 frames per second,
compressing the 18 thousand frames from the festival
into a 26 minute turbo-slideshow)

Or to download the original quicktime from ourmedia.org, click here

Please remember that the festival doesn't have a budget to hire me for all of this, so any little bit that you can contribute to the effort would be muchly appreciated. Use the button below to donate securely with your credit card via PayPal.

September 24 - Entire take posted - click here if you really want to go and see every picture from the festivals. Warning! There's about 18,000 of them, so you'll need some time and a fast connection to be able to deal with them. This is really only of interest to people affiliated with the festival- if you just want to see the best images, check out the four previously posted galleries.

If you want to get better quality versions of these images so that you can make prints or publish them, click here.

Sept 22 - Fourth gallery posted - click here for photos from the last days of the festival. Now I'm working on preparing the unedited galleries of the whole thing, so if you were involved with the festival and want to see all the outtakes to find the random snapshots of you or more photos from your performance, check back in a few days...

Saturday is the last day: If you're looking for a show to go see, I'd recommend "Off the Map" by Zen in the Basement Dance- it's been one of my favorites so far and apparently not many people have heard about it. There's a 1:30 and 7pm show, check them out!
go see this show

Don't forget to head over to the Late Night Cabaret, where everyone meets up and hangs out after the shows are over. It's free every night at 829-51 N. American Street

Want to get copies of these photos? Check back here next week for information on getting photos from this year and last year's festivals.
After I've finished shooting the tear down of this year's festival, you'll be able to get high quality copies of the pictures from this and last year's festivals here, for a limited time-

Sept 16 - Third gallery posted: click here for photos. the festival's almost over, so call the box office and see what you can still get tickets to!

Shave your head!

A festival tradition is the on-stage head shavings that happen at the Cabaret at the beginning and end of the festival. Festival staffer Jennifer Gonsalves donated her hair to Locks of Love (a charity that provides hairpieces to disadvantaged children suffering from long term medical hair loss.) There's still a chance for you to get on stage and get your head buzzed on the last night at the cabaret!

Sept 3- Preliminary photo gallery online: here - this is random shots from the first days of tech work, plus a few from rehearsals of AdShock and Hotel Pool. I'm already realizing that doing web updates w/o proper back end support is going to be totally unrealistic, because time doing that is time not shooting. Check back every once in a while, but don't bother checking daily! :)

Among other things, the tech crew have been preparing the cabaret space by rigging up a contraption for making giant spin-art. The Cabaret is up in Northern Liberties this year (on N. American Street, which runs between 2nd and 3rd, just south of Poplar) - It's a great space, and it's free every night after the shows are over. I'll see you there..

The Cabaret area's also going to have a digital projector with a randomized slideshow of photos from the festival, which will probably get updated more often than this site.

and until I start posting more from this year...

The Quicktime movie of the 2003 festival is available for downnload
for a limited time. (I'll have to take it offline to free up space for this year's photos)
you'll need an FTP program; use the following settings:

FTP host: www.tiziou.com
username: fringe2003
password: festival

It's a 430megabyte file, so it'll take a long time to download.
If you don't know what FTP is, try Transmit (for mac) or SmartFTP (for win)

For photos from last year's festival, click here.

Things are already picking up at the Box Office and some shows have already sold out

I'm donating a -lot- of my time to the festival to make this happen;
if you like the photos and feel like making a contribution, you can do so with any credit card at the link below.
Or find out about other ways that you can help out by clicking here. It would be muchly appreciated. :)
